2009 Tea Expo
posted at 5:30 PM
I will be heading to the 2009 Tea Expo on May 4 and will be on
the lookout for more vendors and products. Check back to see what's new.
While there I will also be attending Level 1 and Level 2
Tea Certification Classes, sponsored by the Specialty Tea Institute, a division of the Tea Association of the US, Inc.
These classes will enhance my knowledge of all things tea -
grading, blending, tasting, cupping, processing, etc. The Birds and The
Teas is a member of the Specialty Tea Institute. For more information go

A Late Season Snow
posted at 9:43 AM
Just under 1/2 inch of snow fell early this morning after rainfall yesterday and overnight. Late season snows are not unheard of and can make for some interesting pictures. Here's one of our Daffodils. -Lorraine

Changes at our Milltown Market Space
posted at 6:09 PM
I can't believe so much time has passed since my last blog entry...
Things are going well at The Birds and The Teas - busy, but good. Thankfully, the weather has changed since my last entry. Things are
slowly warming up - but spring is on the way - you can feel it in the
air, even when its cold. We have moved to a new space at Milltown
Market. I wanted a bigger space so people can sit, drink some tea, and
relax. We have a couple tables set up and hope you will stop by. We're
still getting things in order, but we'll be serving Irish Breakfast tea
this Saturday (3-14) from 1:30 to 4pm. Hope to see you soon.

Baby It's Cold Outside
posted at 5:19 PM
Its cold - very cold - here at The Birds and The Teas (check out www.gooselakeweather.com) ... Hopefully, wherever you are, you have a warm, cozy house to retreat to during these short days of winter. Its a good time to drink tea - and I'm not saying this because I'm in the business of selling tea - well, maybe a little - but when you drink a cup (or pot) of tea, you have a chance to slow down a bit. Take a little time to regroup and relax after the holidays - regardless of what is on your plate right now. My neighbor just delivered the Girl Scout Cookies we ordered - two boxes of my husband's favorites and two of mine. They are a perfect accompaniment with tea. Enjoy, Lorraine

Happy New Year!
posted at 11:34 AM
Happy 2009 to one and all!
I hope everyone enjoyed the holidays. We had a wonderful holiday season and are looking forward to 2009. I know it will be a great year. Thanks to everyone for the support, suggestions, and purchases - we really appreciate it. We selected Fine Ti Kuan Yin Oolong for the January tea of the month. We thought it would be a good tea to drink on these cold days, and to celebrate the Chinese New Year which begins on January 26, 2009 - it is the Year of the Ox. Take time to try an Oolong tea.
We carry two exceptional Oolongs, Formosa Fancy and Fine Ti Kuan Yin. Both offer a nice brown-golden tea, with fruity, fragrant tea. I have been out of both teas but they are on the way. Wishing everyone a healthy, happy, and prosperous 2009. And don't forget to celebrate the Year of the Ox. ...
