It has been a good fall for backyard warblers. Here's an image of a Tennessee warbler in our yard the other morning. Amazing to think that these little guys are moving from their breeding areas in the boreal forest area just north of the US border down to Central America.Tennessee Warbler

A Northern Mockingbird has been hanging around our yard for several days now eating the fruit of our Washington Hawthorn trees and Blackhaw Viburnum shrubs. A backyard first for us!

Three adult Bald Eagles flew over the house yesterday. A White-breasted Nuthatch has been visiting the suet feeder and our winter visitors including White-crowned sparrows and Juncoes arrived in mid October. We've been seeing and hearing the Sandhill Cranes at Goose Lake Prairie nearby.
