Two Eastern Bluebirds visited the backyard late yesterday afternoon, most likely feeding off the plentiful berries on our trees and shrubs. For many years prior we had bluebirds nesting in our nest boxes. I think the addition of more trees in the yard makes it a bit less appealing to them as they prefer somewhat open spaces. It was good to see them back!

The hummingbirds (Ruby-throated) have been very active at our feeders lately. All are vying for the 2 feeders we have out. They are very territorial and will rarely allow another to perch along side.

Cedar waxwings have built a nest in our small Maple tree. We see a bird sitting in the nest on a daily basis so we don't think they are just "practicing". We will keep you posted.
